TRANSPORTATION: Bicycle storages will be available for cyclists again.

28.08.2015, 14:01

There will be two guarded bicycle storages available again for visitors of NATO Days in Ostrava. Their capacity will be up to 7,500 bikes. The event has become a part of the European Mobility Week again and in the cooperation with Municipal Police Ostrava it offers alternative means of transportation to the venue.

"Thanks to servicemen of Ostrava Municipal Police we have prepared a novelty which should make the bicycle storage more efficient," Pavel Boháč from Jagello 2000 comments. The organizers are going to move the bicycle storage (no. 2) outside of the area. "Thanks to moving the storage and a great forthcoming of the Ostrava Municipal Police we are able to open the storage at 7.30 already," Boháč explains. This change will concern also the storage no. 1 and cyclists will be able to store their bikes an hour before the venue opens. As Boháč notes, this should help especially by storage no. 2 as it has a high volume of cyclists thanks to its connection to bicycle path. Also this bicycle storage will have two entry points, one from Petřvaldík and other from Albrechtičky. "We believe these changes will be beneficial and that cyclists will appreciate a faster and easier service," Pavel Boháč adds.

The capacity of bicycle storages will be up to 7,500 bikes. They will be located at the entrances no. 1 and no. 2 and they will be marked in the venue plan. Thus, visitors will be able to get to the venue using the international bicycle trail, so-called Amber track, which leads from Krakow through Ostrava to Vienna. „Along with the organization of bicycle storages, Municipal Police Ostrava will also supervise safety of cyclists on this track. There will be bicycle police patrols on the track for the duration of the event. Our cooperation with Municipal Police Ostrava is highly-valued in this regard, too,“ adds Pavel Boháč.

Thanks to the implementation of the bicycle storages, NATO Days in Ostrava have become part of European Mobility Week. Its aim is to offer alternative means of transportation to the citizens that do not pollute environment. It has to be noted that this couldn’t be done without our long-term cooperation with Ostrava city. The support of another important partner, Johnny Servis s.r.o., is also very important. This company provides for fences and barriers, which are used as bicycle carriers in the storages.

TIP: Information for cyclists

„We kindly ask visitors to be patient during bike storing. Despite moving opening hours for earlier, the process of bicycle storing can be prolonged and thus, there could be a slight delay. However, it is important to be done in favour of their bicycles‘ safety,“ concludes Pavel Boháč.
