NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days

Swedish Ministry of Defence officially confirmed that Sweden would be this year´s Special Partner Nation (SPN) at the biggest security show in Europe – NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days. Sweden thus becomes historically second SPN, after Poland debuted in this role when it was first introduced in 2014.

The Swedish decision to become the 2015 Special Partner Nation is a reflection of excellent bilateral defence and security cooperation between the Czech Republic and Sweden. That is also why it was announced by the Gen Arne Hedén, Special Adviser at the Swedish Defence Ministry, on the occasion of the ceremony of 10 years of Gripens in the Czech Air Force, that took place in Caslav AFB.

Stockholm is keen on making the most of this exclusive opportunity and will strive to arrange the best possible pavilion for showcasing the country´s armed forces as well as its defence industry through a combined presentation.

Although exact composition of the Swedish participation is not determined yet and will be announced closer to the show, the country´s Air Force and Army assets will be displayed in both dynamic as well as static demonstrations, on the ground and in the air. The Swedish exposition at NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days 2015 is planned to include a C-130 air-to-air refuelling tanker as well as Swedish Air Force Historic Flight aircraft.

The special partnership allows a single individual participating country to present itself in a much broader and effective manner than during a standard presentation. For the Special Partner Nation, there is an exclusive presentation area designated, providing large space for a display of assets and capabilities not only of the Air Force, but also of other military services and security and rescue elements. The SPN role also translates into wider participation of the country’s senior political and security officials.
