The Patrulla ASPA Helicopter Team to Make a Debut in the Czech Republic!
Following the confirmation of the Turkish Stars participation, yet another great news arrived, from Madrid, this time. Spanish Air Force has officially confirmed that the Patrulla ASPA, flying five EC120 Colibri helicopters, will take part at the NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days 2013!
This announcement is exciting for several reasons. There are only very few Air Force helicopter groups in Europe and it will be the Patrulla ASPA's premiere participation in the Czech Republic. “For our team, it would be an enormous pride to be in such event for two main reasons: first your commemoration of both the 20th anniversary of the independent Czech Republic and Armed Forces and second because it would be the furthest distance that our Helicopter ASPA Team has been sent to in our 9 years of history,“ stated Major José Alcaraz, the group’s commander.
Another reason is that the Ostrava visitors will have a chance to view a helicopter group demonstration for the very first time ever. In Czech Republic, the last such a chance was more than 15 years ago, during the CIAF 1997 at Hradec Králové, where the Austrian Kleebatt Team displayed.
“Moreover, this is going to be a very attractive presentation, with visitors being able to admire mastery of both the Patrulla ASPA helicopter team flying small, manoeuvrable aircraft, and the supersonic fighters of the Turkish Stars,” adds Zbyněk Pavlačík, from the main organizing agency, the Jagello 2000 Association. “Each year, we strive to present something new and this is becoming more and more difficult, understandably. We hope we will succeed this year and on behalf of our fans, we want to thank the Spanish Air Force in this regard,” says Pavlačík.
Spanish Air Force is returning to Ostrava after five long years. The last presentation was in 2008 by the Patrulla Águila, and the solo display by the F-18 Hornet the year before.
