NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days

The British PlanesTV company is about to film also this year of NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days. It is also going to produce a DVD with videos from the event, that you can pre-order right at the venue.

“We are glad that the Castle Guard takes part again. Albeit it is viewed more as a ceremonial unit by the public, it is also an important component of the armed forces with significant duties and it only rarely presents itself to the public at similar events,” Zbyněk Pavlačík from the organizing Jagello 2000 Association says. On top of that, the Castle Guard has enhanced its display. “The dynamic display of our motorcycle platoon has been completely revised and riders will present their skills with new music, which we keep as a secret,” Captain Zbyněk Jakš from the Castle Guard says.

“The motorcycle platoon will show its newest BMW 1200 RT motocycles at NATO Days in Ostrava. Also the older BMW 1150 RT and historical BMW R69S motorcycle will be presented,” Captain Jakš adds. At static display, visitors will be able to take a close look at the motorcycles or at an impressive collection of the guard’s uniforms and blade weapons.

The Castle Guard is a part of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic, however it stands outside of the structure of the Army and it is directed by the Military Office of the President. The main task of the Castle Guard‘s motorcycle platoon is to conduct motorcycle escort of the President and highest dignitaries of foreign countries during their official visits. The Prague Castle Guard has 610 soldiers, who has to fulfil specific criteria to join the unit. They have to be between 178 and 188 centimetres tall, they cannot have facial hair, visible cosmetic defects, piercing, tattoos, and earrings and so on.
