04.09.2013, 14:35

Traditional participant of NATO Days in Ostrava, Municipal Police of Ostrava, prepares several dynamic displays, presentation of its activities and equipment on static display and besides that it is going to run favourite bicycle storages.

“Thanks to its annual rich participation on displays and event preparations the Ostrava Municipal Police (MPO) is a very distinguished participant of NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days. We are glad that our event can once again serve as a suitable place for presentation of its capabilities,” Zbyněk Pavlačík, the chairman of Jagello 2000, the event’s main organizer, commented.

The MPO prepares several displays. “In the area of large dynamic displays D01 the Ostrava Municipal Police will present itself with a display of a mounted unit. Officers on horses will present a practical display of intervention against those, who break public order with disturbances on the streets. Also officers from the canine unit will take part in the display. We want to demonstrate the harmony of the horse and its rider and therefore affirm our readiness to protect the safety of our citizens,” Mgr. Richard Váňa, the deputy director for operational and crisis management of Ostrava Municipal Police, said.

Then there are displays of activities concerning specialized training of horses, providing information about horse psychology or their protective gear. These displays are going to be taking place in the area of “small dynamic displays” D02. Traditionally also the canine unit is going to present itself there with displays of its dogs’ and handlers’ capabilities.

On the static display the MPO is going to present its activities and equipment of officers from the prevention section and also the special VW Crafter vehicle loaded with high tech gear like mobile camera system, sound meter, laser distance meter and others.

“The laser shooting range is going to be a great pull as always. Visitors can try safe handling of the weapon and their marksmanship. We also have an interesting novelty, the so called ‘drunk glasses’, which allow to simulate alcohol intoxication and test individual’s abilities to perform basic tasks when intoxicated,” Váňa added.

Similar to previous year, the MPO is going to conduct two free guarded bicycle storages. Their capacity is going to swell up to 7,500 bicycles. This service should spur the visitors to use bicycle for their journey to the event. By riding a bike the visitors will help their own health, but also the environment and with easing the vehicular traffic.
