NATO Days in Ostrava Are Going to Offer Record Police Participation

17.09.2013, 10:14

During the upcoming weekend you can look forward to record presentation of the Police of the Czech Republic and police corps of neighbouring countries at Mošnov Airport. The Police of the Czech Republic and police corps of Poland, Germany and Slovakia are going to present themselves in dynamic and in static displays.

“We could hardly imagine better police participation at NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days. We thank all the police corps for it,” Zbyněk Pavlačík, the chairman of the organizing Jagello 2000 Association, says. “Our special thanks belong to the Regional Police Command of the Moravian-Silesian Region, which is one the event’s organizers and provides us full support and devotes lot of effort to the event’s organization,” Pavlačík adds.

“A great pull for the visitors is going to be a joint display of intervention by the Czech and the Polish police, in which the SWAT team of the Regional Police Command of the Moravian-Silesian Region together with SPAP unit from Polish Katowice is going to neutralize terrorists,” Pavlačík says. “The exact details of the display are secret as of yet and will come as a surprise to the visitors. Last year they assaulted a building of our organizational staff, so we are also looking forward to their display this year,” he adds with a smile.

Another dynamic display, and also an international one, is a display of Czech and Polish riot units. “This display was met with huge interest of the visitors and we believe it will attract the interest also this year,” Pavlačík notes. Then there is going to a display of training and activities of service dogs and dog handlers at area D02.

The police static display is going to be rich too. “We are going to present service motorcycles and vehicles of the traffic police, including vehicles with radars, then vehicles of foreign police such as Schengenbus, and vehicles and a boat of riot police,” Lieutenant Soňa Štětínská from the Regional Police Command of the Moravian-Silesian Region says.

Then there is going to be Polish police with water gun and escort vehicles at the static display. You can also look forward to the Police of Free State of Saxony, which is going to introduce a special mobile monitoring centre, vehicle used to control freight traffic and its mascot, a dinosaur called POLDI, which serves as a tool in introducing the police and its prevention topics to children. Then there is going to be the Slovak police, which bring the total number of police participation at NATO Days in Ostrava to a record number of four countries.

The role of the Police of the Czech Republic as an event’s organizer is vitally important for the event itself and for its smooth course. Policemen watch over smoothness of traffic, they ensure security at the event, escort participants and VIPs from their hotels, take part in crisis management of the event and provide further necessary assistance.
