We are bringing more detailed information on the previously announced participation of Austria at the NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days 2013. We are looking forward to see yet another great dynamic and two new exciting static presentations.

“We are happy the waiting is over and that we can precise that Austria will be presenting its Air Force  by a Eurofighter aircraft in dynamic display. Complementing this and making their debut in the static park will be an OH-58 Kiowa helicopter and a Pilatus PC-6 Porter light transport aircraft,” explains Zbyněk Pavlačík, Chairman of Jagello 2000 Association, the September show main organizing agency. “We are grateful that Austria keeps its rich participation and always manages to bring something new as well,” he adds.

Last year, Austria participated with an Alouette III helicopter in the static presentation and with Eurofighter and S-70 Blackhawk helicopter in the air. The Eurofighter will be making its presentation out from its home Zeltweg base where he will also return upon completing the display sequence above at Ostrava airport.

One US-produced Bell OH-58 Kiowa combat helicopter from its Langenlebarn base will be presented on the ground. The total of 12 these helicopters were exported to Austria in 1976, of which 11 are still operational and serve in reconnaissance, transportation and direct combat support roles.  NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days might be one of the very last chances to see the helicopter in its attractive camouflage since soon afterwards, they should be all repainted to standard solid colours.

Moreover, a light transport Pilatus PC-6 Porter aircraft will be displayed in static park as well. This aircraft is capable of taking-off and landing on very short runways at high altitudes and can carry up to 1200 kilogram of load. There are 12 such aircraft in the B2-H2 version at the Austrian Air Force Langenlebarn base.
