Regional Rescue Service to Present its Helicopter and Instruct

06.09.2013, 09:26

Emergency Medical Service of the Moravian-Silesian Region is preparing another interesting presentation for this year’s NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days. The presentation will show the rescue of a patient in difficult terrain using a helicopter. In addition, the Service will open its ambulance car for close view and will educate and instruct about its work and the first aid.

“The presentation of the EC 135 T2+ rescue helicopter including the roping down of a doctor to treat the patient in the difficult terrain and transport him on rope under the aircraft is very attractive. The Moravian-Silesian Region’s Emergency Medical Service has already made this presentation many times at NATO Days in Ostrava and we are certain our visitors will enjoy it yet again,” comments Zbyněk Pavlačík, chairman of the Jagello 2000, main organizing agency of the September show.

On the static park, the Regional EMS will present its fully equipped ambulance car. “In case of real emergency at the show area, this ambulance can also be used in aiding the visitors,” explains Dr. David Holeš, deputy director and main medical doctor of the Moravian-Silesian EMS.

The static presentation will also include a tent where various medical aids will be displayed, including suitcases with equipment, a vacuum mattress, splints, ambu-packs, cardio pump, and many others. The videos will show training footage and basics of first aid. Near the tent, practical life-saving will be presented with commentary. Under the medical personnel guidance, the visitors will be able to try some of the techniques themselves.

Apart from presenting its equipment and work, the M-S Regional EM Service is also one of the organizers of the whole event. The Service provides pre-hospital emergency treatment and psychosocial help and coordinates medical services on the spot.

Another medical presentation will be made by the Ostrava Municipal Hospital featuring two ambulance cars and medical personnel and offering the visitors measurements of blood pressure, level of oxygen and sugar in blood and other.

Further medical presentations will be conducted by the Regional Club of Czech Red Cross Ostrava. It will offer one ambulance on static display and members of the club will perform displays of first aid, especially in life-threatening situations (heart attack, strokes, heavy traumatic injuries, etc.). We believe that our visitors will take useful information from the display and that they will leave the event equipped with knowledge that might help save someone one day.
