The Slovak Air Force will offer the premiere of its Spartan accompanied by the MiG-29 and the Black

Slovakia is going to present a cross-section of its aviation capabilities at this year's NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days. For a static display, Slovakia will send the MiG-29 fighter, the C-27 Spartan transport aircraft, and the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter.

This year, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic will present itself with its most modern equipment, the C-27 Spartan. It was supposed to take his foreign premiere at NATO Days last year, but in the end, it did not arrive due to his operational workload, so visitors will be able to see it for the first time this year. It will be complemented by the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter, which visitors could have seen in the previous two years, and the well-known MiG-29.

"Although we were one country relatively recently, this year's participation of Slovakia is a good example of different development of our air forces, as Slovak Air Force will show only aircraft that the Czech Republic does not operate," says Zbyněk Pavlačík, Chairman of Jagello 2000. "We are also pleased that Slovakia will join celebrations of the NATO's anniversary and the accession of our countries to the Alliance. We'd like to see the SLovak MiG-29 in dynamic display again, unfortunately it is not possible due to capacity reasons."

Slovakia operates a pair of C-27 Spartan transport aircraft by the Italian company Leonardo-Finmeccanica. It is a medium-range twin-engine turboprop aircraft, which is also used by Italian, U.S., Hellenic, Romanian or Bulgarian Air Force.

Since 2017, the Slovak Air Force also has multi-purpose helicopters from the American company Sikorski UH-60 Black Hawk. Their versatility allows for use not only for combat operations and support of ground forces but also for training and assistance in natural disasters.

The MiG-29 twin-engine air superiority fighter, which was developed in the 1970s in the Soviet Union, still represents the backbone of the Slovak Air Force. Slovak MiGs have been upgraded to NATO standard in 2005 and 2006 and will be in service until at least 2023 before being replaced by U.S.-made F-16V fighters.
