Czech Air Force will present itself at its best at Mošnov

NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days would not be complete without the participation of the Czech Air Force, which, as usual, has prepared a wide presentation of its aircraft. Visitors can look forward to their capabilities shown in both static and dynamic displays, even in cooperation with ground forces.

The Air Force of the Army of the Czech Republic will be represented by all its subordinate units. Therefore, there will be equipment not only from tactical, helicopter and transportation wings, which will also participate in the traditional flypast, but also other support units - the 25th Air Defence Missile Regiment and the 26th Command, Control and Surveillance Regiment.

“NATO Days in Ostrava take place altogether with Czech Air Force Days for the eighth time in a row. This connection emphasizes the importance that the Czech Air Force gives to its presentation at Leoš Janáček Ostrava Airport, which is most visible at the size of its participation. The Czech Air Force is not only the biggest participant, but also provides crucial aspects of both organization and realization of the show, without it, NATO Days could not happen in such extent,” says Zbyněk Pavlačík, the chairman of Jagello 2000, which is the main organizer of the event.

The most attention is drawn to the display of the JAS-39 Gripen fighter jet from the 211th Tactical Squadron, which will be in hands of a new display pilot, captain Ivo Kardoš. He is successful with his aerobatic show not only at home, but also abroad. For example, capt. Kardoš  received an award for the best foreign performance at Royal International Air Tattoo in Fairford, the United Kingdom, which is considered the world's largest aerial holiday.

Another favourite display will be conducted by the couple of L-159 ALCA light fighter aircraft from the 212th Tactical Wing, which have prepared an improved show. “Whereas last year these aircraft had a combined display with the army, this year they will show its air-to-ground capabilities in an individual performance, ” explains Pavlačík.

The 22nd Helicopter Base from Náměšť nad Oslavou will also participate as its Mi-24 and Mi-171 helicopters will show a rescue of a downed pilot and engage in a common performance with ground troops. Czech paratroopers will then jump out of the Mi-171 transport helicopter and the Mi-24 multirole helicopter will present its manoeuvring capabilities.

Beside the dynamic displays, visitors can look forward to see these aircraft on a static display, where the L-410 transport aircraft from the 24th Air Transportation Base Prague-Kbely will be presented as well. In the Czech Air Force tent, there will be the opportunity to learn more about significant parts of a pilot training, airborne training and flying on a simulator included.

Last but not least, the contribution of the Czech Air Force is in the area of logistics, without which the presentation of participating aircraft would not be possible. It mainly consists of supply of oxygen and nitrogen, electricity, and creating necessary conditions for a smooth running of both dynamic and static displays, including arrivals and departures of all aircraft that visitors will see at this year's NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days. These activities are primarily secured by the 216th Logistical Support Wing.
