Romanian C-27 Spartan joins the line-up

10.05.2012, 21:53

Despite the original decision not to attend, Romanian Air Force is sending its C-27 Spartan cargo aircraft for a ground display at the NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force 2012. Romania thus becomes 15th country to have confirmed its participation at the Mošnov airport in September.

The reason for reconsidering the original decision was the Prague NATO Summit 10th anniversary, where Romania and six other countries had been invited to join the Alliance.

Romanian Air Force Spartan was planned to attend NATO Days in Ostrava as long as two years ago as a support aircraft for the IAR-99 SOIM dynamic display, but the An-26 was sent instead. Having displayed its C-130 Hercules already in its premiere participation in 2009, with Spartan, Romania completes presentation of its air transport fleet.

Romanian C-27 will be the second aircraft of this type displayed this year with Lithuania having confirmed the same type earlier. Both countries have received invitations to NATO at Prague in 2002 and this fact will be commemorated at this year´s NATO Days in Ostrava. Other then-invited countries that have already confirmed their participation at NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days 2012 are Estonia, Slovakia and Slovenia.
