First-ever Lithuanian participation in Czech Republic with a C-27J Spartan

14.02.2012, 20:09

Lithuania has become the second country (after Switzerland) to be present at NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days for the very first time. This will also be the country´s premiere presentation in the Czech Republic.

Lithuanian Air Force is bringing its most modern transport C-27J Spartan aircraft to be displayed in the static presentation. The country operates 3 aircraft of this type.

Moreover, this will be the first ever public presentation of the Spartan´s military modification in the Czech Republic. In the past, an Alenia Aeronautica company plane was presented in a spectacular flying display that was also on the 2007 NATO Days in Ostrava programme.

“We are very glad that Lithuania is going to participate at our event for the very first time. The country´s presence has a special significance this year since we will be commemorating 10th anniversary of the 2002 Prague NATO summit. At this summit, Lithuania and 6 other East and Central European countries received invitation to become the Alliance´s members,” says Zbyněk Pavlačík, Jagello 2000 chairman.

Mr. Alexandr Vondra, Czech Defence Minister, who had been the Czech Government´s Commissioner to the Prague Summit, has sent personal invitations to his counterparts in the respective seven countries to participate at this year´s NATO Days in Ostrava. “We believe therefore, that some more and even previously not seen equipment will be displayed at Ostrava in September,” adds Pavlačík.
