A glass cockpit, handling via the HOTAS system, flight-by-wire control system, datalink, ability to carry NATO and Swedish armaments, pilots NVG system and state-of-the-art avionics system allows aircraft to conduct A/A, A/G and reconnaissance missions together in one flight.

The aircraft is able to fight in A/A missions from a close range with a gun and short-range missiles and in missions Beyond Visual Range with long-range missiles controlled by onboard radar.

In the Czech Air Force, it is mainly used for air policing within NATINEADS where it has been engaged since the summer of 2005. Currently, it is on operational duty in the Swedish and Czech Air Forces and has been ordered by Hungary and South Africa.

L-159 ALCA - a single-seat, light, multi-role combat aircraft developed by Aero Vodochody.

The aircraft is equipped with a state-of-the-art multi mode Doppler radar, a self-protection system, a sophisticated onboard avionics system and the ability to carry a wide range of NATO standard weapons. This aircraft turns into a perfect weapon for smaller war conflicts or peace-keeping missions.

The aircraft can be used for A/A, A/G, reconnaissance, border patrol and rescort missions. It is an excellent aircraft for close air support and precise attacks in cooperation with FACs.

More than 4 hours of flying displays and another 3 hours of ground presentations – that is the plan for the September NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days show. The highlights include the legendary UK Red Arrows aerobatic team. Czech fighters will present aerial refuelling for the first time ever.

Negotiations on US Air Force participation this year are reaping first fruit. Confirmation came for the static display of 2 F-15E fighter planes and one KC-135 Stratotanker air refuelling aircraft.

After last year´s premiere, Sweden Air Force will participate again at NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days with the same type of aicraft presentation – the S100D Argus, thus enabling renewed display of three different Airborne Early Warning (AEW) aicraft types at Ostrava.

NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days organizers continue in promotion of the event's first 10 years at key nodes of the North Atlantic Alliance. Latest venue is the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe in Mons, Belgium.
